Prospective Accelerating Sectors to Attain Sustainable Development in Bangladesh Economy: Findings from a Sectoral Approach Using Input-Output Analysis

With frequent climate change related disaster shocks and a huge burden of refugees from neighbor country’s conflict, Bangladesh needs to formulate effective strategies support its most prospective sectors for ensuring sustainable development. This paper aims at disentangling the process economic growth in identify some accelerating sectors, which could achieve constant with proper policy support. Using modification traditional structural decomposition analysis (SDA), we economy. We have found labor intensive manufacturing high value added service as key Bangladesh. compare existing structure five other Asian lower income developing countries (LIDCs) all mostly similar structure, except Vietnam. Our showed is mainly dependent on textiles food construction, real estate inland transport service, quick growth. Most importantly, new such basic metal machineries, NEC, recycling are constantly growing over last decade, using our technique. Proper these potential emerging help development goals (SDGs) through promoting industrial diversification.
